UNFORTUNATELY for Crewe Alexandra their dogged performance ended before kick off on Saturday as Brentford scored three stunning goals once a runaway husky was removed from the Gresty Road pitch.
The wayward dog was safely returned to its owner, but it did not take League One frontrunners Brentford long to take a lead as Alan Judge fired past Ben Garratt in the Alex net.
The Blackburn loanee added his and Brentford’s second after the break with another 20-yard strike and the hosts feared a repeat of the 5-0 hammering handed to them by the Bees earlier this season.
It got worse on the hour mark as Adam Forshaw topped Judge’s fine strikes with a wonder goal of his own, beating Garratt from all of 30 yards.
The Railwaymen did offer a response with 20 minutes remaining when ex-employee Clayton Donaldson handled in the Bees’ box, Chuks Aneke slotted his 11th of the season from the spot.
