A Sandbach Boys’ School student enjoyed national success after leaping to victory in the UK Sportshall Speed Bounce final.

Jack Williamson, from Leighton, was crowned the Speed Bounce under 13s boys’ national champion in the UK final at Manchester’s Sportcity.

The 12-year-old saw off competitors from the UK and Northern Ireland with a gold medal-winning score of 92 – one bounce off the UK record.

Speed Bounce events are part of the Sportshall series, designed for encouraging indoor competition among school students.

Competitors are required to perform as many two-footed jumps, taking off and landing on both feet, over a wedge as possible in a certain time period.

Williamson qualified for the national final after claiming two golds at regional level, speed bounce and obstacle relay, and a bronze in the six-lap paarluff.

He added to his UK speed bounce gold with a silver medal while representing the north west in the obstacle relay alongside Cheshire teammates Jacob Birtles, Kian Nolan and Marcus Grayson.
