NANTWICH did their survival hopes no harm after beating Neston by 50 runs to consign the visitors to the Cheshire County ECB Premier League bottom two.

Number 10 batsman Ollie Griffiths was the star of the show for the home side with an unbeaten 31 that saw Nantwich recover from 131 for 8 to reach 168.

Frank Farrington, 29, and Liam Livingstone, 27, had earlier made some ground while Jack Goode chipped in with 18.

Griffiths took his fourth wicket when he bowled Paul Stimson to skittle Neston for 118, Stimson had proved Neston’s danger man with the ball with a five-wicket haul.

Goode and Jimmy Warrington added two wickets each while Ashley Shaw completed the rout.

Nantwich’s luck ran out in the National Club Championship on Sunday, however, when they were knocked out by Ormskirk in the Group Six semi-final.

Wistaston eased to victory in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One where they had Ellesmere Port back in the hut for 46.
