IT was all to play for as Premier Division dominoes’ top four met, Kings Arms A retaking top spot with a 7-1 win that eliminated West End LMR B from contention.

LMR had veteran George Goodwin to thank for staving off the whitewash.

Deposed leaders West End Band C drew at third-placed Hop Pole A, the pair still split by one point. If Commercial drop a point, trophy places will go to two of the top trio.

Division One still has six possible contenders for the two trophy places. Leaders Pioneers Club B beat Amalgamated A 5-3, with Broughton Arms now three points behind after winning 6-2 at bottom placed Earl of Chester.

Third-placed Delamere drew at Nantwich Road A and head four teams covered by one point, but are seven points off the pace after recent poor performances.

Division Two leaders Oddfellows scrambled a draw with Brunel Arms A, but move three points ahead of Rising Sun A, beaten 5-3 by Bridge A.

Bridge move up to fourth spot, level on points with the Express, who won 5-3 at Horse Shoe. Six teams are vying for the two trophy places.

Division Three pacemakers Liberal had a bad night, losing 6-2 to Coppenhall Club. Fortunately their big lead was only dented as main challengers Kings Arms A were held to a draw by Captain Webb, allowing Hawk to move within a point after their 6-2 defeat of Flying Lady B.

Despite Raven’s match in hand, two of the top four should fill the trophy places.

Division Four toppers White Lion let slip a 3-1 lead in their draw with Dishers A and now face a stern challenge from Dishers B, three points behind after beating Nags Head 6-2.

Duke of Bridgewater C drop to fourth after losing 6-2 to Rising Sun B. The top five teams are all still in with a trophy place and they meet the bottom five in their final matches.

Division Five sees the only champions crowned, namely Prince of Wales A, who forfeited a 3-1 lead in their draw at Brunel Arms B, which proved sufficient and also jeopardised Brunel B’s aspirations.

Second-placed Brunel Arms C drew with Rileys Club B, allowing Hop Pole B to pose a very significant challenge for a trophy spot after they demolished Cheese Hall 7-1.
