CREWE’s Bob Trotter was racing with his Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV at Oulton Park’s 60th anniversary Gold Cup weekend.
A marvellous race programme of nostalgia for racing cars from the 50s right up to the 90s celebrated the long history of motor racing at Oulton Park. The original Gold Cup Trophy in 1954 was won by a certain Stirling Moss.
Having qualified in 13th for the start of the race, a good start saw him gain one place on the important first lap.
Then, as the cars spread out, another place was gained on lap six so Trotter finished in 11th place, a result that definitely put a smile on his face after a good weekend’s racing.
