NEW Nantwich Town signing Adam Jones was delighted to bag an added-time winner as the Dabbers took all three points against Frickley Athletic on Saturday.

Jones topped his man-of-the-match performance by heading home the winner in a 3-2 victory in the 92nd minute.

The defender said: “It feels like all the hard work coming back from a bad injury was all worth it.

“To feel like that, to get the winner in the last minute makes it worthwhile. I felt like there was time [after going to 2-2] to get a winner.

“But we have spoken that when we are a goal or two goals up in a game that we need to be a bit more ruthless.

“We tried to be a bit more patient and keep the ball. We had them on the ropes, but we tried to consolidate a one goal lead, however, we need to try and get two or three or even four goals to kill teams off.”

The visitors took the lead before the break through Gavin Allot, but a second-half penalty from Adam Pepper and an Alex Meaney effort put the Dabbers ahead.

Macualey Parkinson leveled in the 89th minute, however Jones popped up to seal Danny Johnson’s side all three points.

Goals from Steve Lewis, Harry Clayton and Jordan Johnson were not enough for the Dabbers at Stourbridge on Tuesday, when they suffered a 5-3 defeat.

Nantwich’s Cheshire County ECB Premier League fixture at league leaders Hyde was cancelled, leaving them narrowly above the drop zone.

Wistaston made hard work of it in reply, but crawled over the line with two wickets to spare thanks to contributions from Keith Thornhill, 29, and Kingdom, 30.
