CREWE Liberal Club Open League Darts Premier Division top two Pioneers A and Cosey Club gained resounding 7-1 victories at the expense of bottom pair Cheshire Cheese and Commercial.

Three points behind, after a 6-2 win at Delamere, are the third of the probable trophy place contenders W/End LMR B, who have two matches in hand and play the current bottom trio in their remaining five.

Top marksmen were Chris Gibson (LMR B) who won in 14 and 16 darts and Andy Pitt (Kings A) who was on the mark with a 14 dart leg.

Craig Smith (Cheese) and Jim Hamlett (Delamere) fired 15 darters, Craig concluding his with a 146 checkout and Jim including a 180 in his.

16 darters were bombed by Clive Lucking (Delamere), who also hit a 149 finish, and Pete Boughey (Pioneers A,) who was also on the mark with a 180.

Danny Ayres (LMR B) and Commercials sole winner Simon Charlton hit 17 darters, while Mark Jodrill (Cosey) and Cliff Davison (ASLEF) grabbed 18 darters, Cliff ending his with a 141 kill.

Maximum 180s were hit by Simon Preston (Cosey), Anthony Broadhurst (ASLEF), Andy Poynton (Pioneers A) and LMR B’s Dave Bickerton.

Division One saw Brunel A moving to the top by a point after walloping Nantwich Road A 7-1, but probably only temporarily as deposed leaders Oddfellows Club’s had their bye, which Brunel endure next week, prior to hosting the Oddies in a vital clash.

Martin Blakeman (Broughton Arms) ended an 18 dart leg with a 130 checkout, Brunel A pair Jordan Bradley and Lee Woolley hit 19 darters, Lee also bombing a 180 as did team mate Steve Austin and Stuart Gilligan (Broughton).

Division Two’s top five met the bottom five, with bottom placed Rising Sun A the only team to gain any benefit after they overturned a 3-0 Sydney advantage to scramble a draw.

Leaders Imp slammed seven against Bridge C to move eight points clear of Sydney, with Horse Shoe a remote third despite a 6-2 defeat of Woodside.

Imp players dominated darts performances with Wayne Plant winning in 15 and 17, Ken Greenall in 17 and 20 and Ben Snape and Paul Byrne weighing in with 17 darters.

Rob Paine (Sydney) won in 17 and 18, Horse Shoe duo Simon Phillips and Nick Rathbone fired respective 18 and 19 darters and Graham Warburton (Sun) bombed a 154 checkout.

Division Three toppers Willaston Club hammered Vine B 7-1 to move 16 points clear of Swan & Chequers, beaten 5-3 at Kings B, with third placed Nantwich Road B still well in contention after beating fourth placed Captain Webb 5-3.

Kieran Wilkinson (Swan) included a 180 in a 14 dart leg, Paul Goodwin (Willaston) hit a 15 darter and Simon Felton (Nant Rd B) won in 17 and 18 darts.

Willaston’s Jamie Clorley hit an 18 dart leg and a brace of 180s, teammate Joey Reade fired one maximum, Jamie Louth (Nant Rd B) hit a 20 darter and Dave Morris (Coppenhall) a 114 checkout.

The top four in Division Four met the bottom four. Top trio of probable champions Prince A (now sure of a top two finish), Duke C and White Lion all recorded wins, with the central pair Nags Head and Rising Sun B still locked together after their draw maintained absolutely identical records.

Kev Thackwell’s win staved off a whitewash for Brunel C at Prince A, for whom Ben Davies included a 180 in his 15 dart win and teammate Lyndon Cartwright fired a 19 dart win.

Division Five leaders Hop Pole B had a bye but keep top place four points ahead of Dishers A whose 6-2 defeat of Foresters B moves them ahead of Prince D who lost 6-2 at the Coach. Simon Cope (Dishers A) won in 20 darts.
