IN perfect spring weather, Craig Brookfield from Nantwich was racing a 1600cc Ford Fiesta XR2 in the XR Challenge Championship at Oulton Park.
He started the first race from fourth on the grid, got up to third by lap five and held that position right through to the finish flag.
A poor start from third in the second race saw him drop to eighth by the end of the first lap, but by lap 10 he was back up to third, a position he was then able to hold right through to the finish flag.
Also from Nantwich was Douglas Crosbie who was racing his 1600cc van Dieman in the Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship for post 1989 cars.
Starting from third on the grid, a brief excursion into the gravel on lap eight dropped him back to sixth but he was able to get back up to fourth by the chequered flag.
