STEVE Davis vows his side will give it everything they’ve got to secure League One survival at Coventry City on Saturday.

The Alex have come under fire after blowing points with below-par second-half performances against both Peterborough and Walsall.

But after results went their way on Tuesday, Crewe remain outside of the bottom four and could yet seal survival if all goes to plan.

“We looked comfortable against Walsall and I couldn’t see them scoring,” said Davis.

“It took a double deflection to deceive Paul (Rachubka) and that’s the way it goes.

“We needed a bit of a luck and we didn’t get it.

“It’s been the same for about a month, we’ve been looking at other teams beating each other and relying on results.

“They went for us on Tuesday and we remain two points in front of the bottom pack going into Saturday which is a huge boost.

“But nothing has changed, we know we have to go to Coventry and get a result.

“I think it will go down to the last game and after the first 11 games, we’d have probably taken that.

“Maybe we’ve always been prepared for it.

“We’ve fallen down recently because we haven’t been able to turn these draws into wins.

“Four points against Peterborough and Walsall would have made a massive difference to us but we always knew it would be difficult.

“Nothing will be different, it’s a normal week for us.

“I don’t need to sit the players down and tell them the importance of this game.

“There doesn’t need to be any motivational speech.

“They know that have to go there and give it everything we’ve got.”

Alan Tate, Chris Atkinson and Matt Tootle are all out for the rest of the season.

However Jamie Ness and Ben Garratt could be involved at the Ricoh Arena.

“Nessy has a chance and that would give us a huge boost,” continued Davis.

“We’ve missed him and he was here last weekend to support the lads which shows the character he has.

“Alan could have also quite easily said 'that’s me done' and gone back to Swansea, but he wants to stay here and help us in any way he can.

“His experience has been important and we’re delighted he wants to stick around.

“Ben is back in training and we’ll see how it goes.

“He could make the bench on Saturday because we haven't got any cover and if we get a sending off or something, he’s better than one of our outfield players going in.

“If he feels confident that he can sit on the bench then he will be involved.

“Uche (Ikpeazu) has looked good in training and could start.”
