THE second round of the Crewe Oddies Open League Summer Team Knockout saw the demise of both last season's finalists, winners Brunel A and runners-up The Oddies.

Brunel A were defeated in a closely fought contest against fellow premiership side Kings Arms A despite a 20 dart game which included a 180 by Jordan Bradley.

Brunel lost the darts 4-3 which left the tie to be decided on the final dominoes pairs game won by the Kings captain Bill Hegarty and Keith Capper giving them an 8-7 aggregate victory.

The Oddies took the darts 4-3 in the game with division two opponents Amalgamated B but the Mals B dominated the dominoes 5-1 to secure the surprise 8-5 aggregate victory.

Other premiership sides to suffer round two defeat were Delamere who lost 8-5 to visitors White Lion Ford Lane for whom Alan Bostock was in form with a 180 maximum.

Holly Bush were thrashed 9-4 by hosts Horseshoe with Nick Rathbone hitting a 20 darter.

Nantwich Rd Aslef went out in a close encounter with Broughton Arms who held a 4-3 darts advantage as Asef fought back winning the first four dominoes games only for the Broughton to comeback and win the last four games giving them an 8-7 aggregate success.

The other premier teams had easier victories as Danny Ayres with an 18 darter helped Wetsend Band Lmr B to n 8-5 aggreagte victory over hosts Cheshire Cheese while Bobby Baynham’s 180 assisted Cosey Club to a 7-0 darts whitewash of Dishers B and with three dominoes wins completed a 10-5 passage into round three.Pioneers A trounced Swan & Chequers 8-3 and Vine A thrashed Duke of Bridgewater C 9-3.

Andy Curran was in fine form with a 17 dart game for fourth division Nags Head A as they surprised division one side Amalgamted A running out 9-6 aggregate winners.

In the all division two clash between Willaston Club and Hawk,Willaston took the darts 5-2 with Lee Moffat winning in 19 darts and as the six dominoes singles games were shared Willaston finished as 8-5 aggregate winners.

There was a cliffhanger between Brunel B and Bridge A with the Brunel winning the darts 4-3 with Ben Davies hitting 18 darts for Brunel and Jamie Hawkins 17 darts for Bridge.

Meanwhile the dominoes games were shared leaving all to be decided on the final pairs game won by Brunel pairing of John Speed and Sarah Goodwin to see them through to the next round with an 8-7 aggregate scoreline.

There was another cliffhanger between Coach & Horses and Hop Pole A with Hop Pole taking the darts 4-3 the Coach hit back at dominoes leading 4-3 levelling the tie at 7-7 leaving all to be decided on the final pairs game won by the Hop Pole duo Bryan Jones and Pete Williams sealing a 8-7 aggregate victory.

Rising Sun B (8-6), Bridge C (10-3) and Woodside (10-4) had comfortable victories over respective opponents Captain Webb, Vine B and Cheshire Cheese (Shav).

In the only league game played in division three between Flying Lady B and Nags Head B the Nags Head won the darts 5-3 and the dominoes finished as a 4-4 draw.
