THE third round of the Oddies Club Open League Summer Team Knockout produced a number of shocks.

The highlights were the defeats of top Premiership sides Westend Lmr B and Cosey Club by respective opponents Brunel B and Hop Pole A.

In the Westend Lmr B and Brunel B match the Westend took a 4-3 darts advantage with Chris Gibson hitting an 18 dart game and 180 maximums by Chris Townsend and Dave Bickerton, but the Brunel had the upper hand at dominoes 6-2 to give them a 9-6 aggregate victory.

It was a similar story in the match between Hop Pole A and Cosey Club with the premier side taking a 4-3 darts advantage assisted by a Mark Jodrill 16 darts game with a brace of 180s.

But the best game was a 12 darter from Hop Pole’s Frazer Hill meanwhile the Hop Pole had taken control of the dominoes, winning five of the six games played to see them through to the next round with a 8-5 aggregate success.

The other Premier team to fall were Kings Arms A who were beaten 8-3 by Division One team Horseshoe.

They took the darts 5-2 with Cliff Williams hitting a 17 darter and Mick Patrick finishing his game with a 120 checkout coupled with victories in the first three dominoes games by Ron Lightfoot,Cliff Williams and Steve Hughes securing an easy passage into the quarter-finals.

Successful Premier teams were Pioneers A and Vine A,the Pioneers John Cooper was in top form with a 15 dart game finishing with a 135 checkout as they trounced division four opponents Nags Head A 6-1 at darts and 6-2 at dominoes for a 12-3 aggregate victory.

Vine A with a Rob Arrowsmith 18 dart game were held to a darts draw by Amalagamated B but dominated the dominoes winning the first five games for an 8-3 aggregate victory.

In the all Division Two clash at the Bridge C visitors Willaston Club came out on top taking the darts 5-2 and sharing the dominoes 4-4 for a 9-6 aggregate win.

White Lion Ford Lane had a comfortable 8-3 aggregate win over visitors Rising Sun B whilst Broughton’s visit to Woodside saw them come away with an 8-6 aggregate victory.
