NANTWICH Town goalkeeping coach Chris Parkes says a 2-1 win at Marine demonstrates the Dabbers’ potential.

Title favourites Salford City and Ashton United have both been held to goal less draws by Marine, while Nantwich were the first this season to take three points.

Parkes said: “It shows what potential we have got.

“We have come here to Marine and have shown we have got plenty of quality.

“Not many teams will come here and come home with much so it’s a great three points.

“Any three points away from home is a good three points in my eyes.”

“I thought we did really well, we passed the ball really well throughout the game today. We want the lads to not be scared to get on the ball and play.”

“They have got their reward with the win and the three points. Every away game is a challenge and we have played really well. The management team are chuffed.”

A second-half brace from Matt Bell secured the points.

“They have worked hard for each other and everybody contributed,” Parkes added.

And the coach was delighted with how Dabbers fought back from a goal down.

Parkes said: “It just shows what team spirit we have got in the camp. Every lad wants to play for the team and wants to play for each other.”

“You go 1-0 down, these things happen.

“It about how you react and we didn’t panic, we carried on playing with our style of football and we got two very good goals and three more points.

“Looking forward, we have to make our place a fortress and not give points away.

“The lads coming off the bench all gave really good performances so it was a real team effort. Now we turn our attention onto Tuesday night and Sutton.

“We need to run that extra 10 yards, put that tackle in or put them on the line to stop a goal.”
