NANTWICH Town's youngsters progressed to the FA Youth Cup second round with a 2-1 win against Padiham at the Weaver Stadium.

They will visit Colne in the second round.

First half goals from Max Parry after just five minutes and another from Kieron Smith five minutes before the interval were enough to put the Dabbers through, despite the visitors pulling one back just before full time.

Youth Team Head Coach and Matt Fisher and Football Development Director Steve Smithies were delighted with the support, the performance and result.

“It was wonderful to see so may supporters and first team players turning out to get behind the Youth Team," said Smithies.

"And it was a great boost for the players to have the first team management team here, along with players like Steve Jones, Mat Bailey, captain Darren Thornton, Andy White and Terry Smith.

"I am sure the massive support this evening helped and it’s just reward for the work that the players and head coach Matt have put in and hopefully everyone has seen that there is a bright future for youth development at the club.”

Nantwich will next play Colne the week commencing September 21, a date for the game is to be confirmed.
