NANTWICH racing driver Douglas Crosbie, with his 1600cc Formula Ford racing car, ‘did the double’ in the last two races of the season’s Avon Tyres Northern Championship - where he was lying third.

The first race, starting from second, saw him take the lead on the second lap andhe held it right through to the finish flag for his third race win of the year.

In the second race, starting again from second, he trailed closely behind the leader for six laps before an extremely difficult overtake around the outside on a corner gave him the lead.

He then held that lead to the finish line and his fourth win of the season.

While Crosbie was obviously delighted with his two consecutive race wins (and having now found an excellent set-up for the car), he realised he had not gained enough points to overhaul the two Championship leaders in the final results table.
