WINNING a tsunami of medals, including seven Championship titles 12-year-old category, Harrison Aspinall proved himself the one to beat at the Shropshire County Championships in Wolverhampton.

Having originally attended St Wilfrid’s School Hartford in Nantwich, Aspinall now competes for Ellesmere College Titans SC having been offered a swimming scholarship at the North Shropshire College.

On day one of the four-day Championships, Aspinall took bronze in the final of the boys' 12yr 100m butterfly in a lifetime best of 1:25.05.

He followed this with gold in the 200m breaststroke in 3:14.52.

Aspinall concluded his first day on yet another high with his second County Championship title and gold in the 200m individual medley (IM) finishing in 2:51.53.

Day two started with an exciting finish with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers only being split by less than six tenths of a second in the 100m breast final, with Aspinall taking silver in another personal best of 1:31.35.

Dusting himself off after taking bronze in the 200m fly in 3:20.89, Aspinall followed up by taking victory with gold in the 400m IM in 5:54.13.

Day three began with Aspinall taking bronze in the 200m backstroke with 2:51.02, followed by silver in the 50m fly in 36.37.

Unbeatable in the individual medley so far, Aspinall cemented his dominance with his fourth gold in the 100m IM with another pb in 1:19.92.

The final event on day three was the gruelling 60 lengths of the 1500m freestyle with once again Aspinall taking gold and the title with 20:37.12.

Day four found Aspinall taking gold in the 200m freestyle with 2:28.94, taking silver soon after in the final of the 50m breast and concluding in the best way possible in the 400m freestyle where he took his seventh gold ahead of his Ellesmere club mates.

With these results, Harrison proved his versatility over a wide range of strokes and distances and it bodes well for future Championships and for him working hard with his coaches under the guidance of chief Alan Bircher to qualify eventually for the national summer and winter championships in July and November.
