THE Crewe Oddies Club Summer Open League season proper got underway with no real shock results and a lack of top darts shots in all but the top division.

Premier Division Darts usual top four suspects Pioneers Club A, West End LMR B, Cosey Club and Eight Farmers A all got off to good starts with 7 or 6 points hauls, two of which involved defeats for promoted Broughton Arms and Willaston Club.

Wayne Patton (Kings Arms A) and Dan Smith (Broughton Arms) staved off whitewashes from last season’s top duo Pioneers A and West End LMR B. Top arrows came from Danny Ayres (LMR B) who won in 16 and 19 darts, while teammate Chris Gibson, Tom Kelly (Farmers) and Robbie Arrowsmith (Vine A) fired single 16 darters.

Tony Probin (Oddies) bombed a 17 darter but to no avail as he was beaten 2-1 on legs by Vine A’s Ken Cliffe, who won with a 106 checkout.

Tony Swindells (Cosey) and Dave Coyne (Oddies) hit 18 darters and Ross Gilder Jnr (Cosey) a 19 darter.

Simon Phillips (Horse Shoe) blasted a 142 finish, Justin Vickers (Farmers) and Shaun Wilkinson (LMR B) bombed 180’s and LMR B pair Chris Gibson and Paul Goodwin hit a 36 dart pairs win.

Division One Darts top hitters were relegated Nantwich Road ASLEF who whitewashed their A team to demonstrate their intentions of gaining a swift return to the top flight and Cheshire Cheese who won 6-2 at the Crown.

The other relegated team Hop Pole A were beaten 5-3 at Pioneers Club B despite a 20 darter and a 180 from Frazer Cooper.

Peter Garnett (Pioneers B) bombed a 17 dart leg. Promoted teams Brunel Arms B and the Hawk drew their clash.

Division Two Darts saw relegated White Lion win 6-2 at Kings Arms B, with the other eight teams gaining 3, 4 or 5 points in what could be a close section.

Promoted Coppenhall Club won 5-3 at Sydney Arms, the hosts making the scoreline more respectable by winning the last three games, while fellow promoted team Raven relied on wins in the pairs games to scramble a draw with visitors Flying Lady A.

Jordan Bradley (White Lion) included a 180 in his 18 darter, Mike Middlehurst (Coppenhall Club) fired a 116 checkout and Steve Austin (White Lion) bombed a 180.

Division Three darts early pacemakers are Swan & Chequers and promoted Nags Head A after 6-2 wins at Vine A and Nags Head B. The other two promoted outfits clashed, with Dishers Club B beating their A team 5-3.

Joey Reade (Duke B) hit a 19 darter and Nag B’s sole singles winner Shaun Young concluded a 21 dart leg with a stunning 158 checkout.

Division Four darts three matches all ended 5-3 with wins by Coach and Horses at Duke C, newcomers Captain Webb at Eight Farmers B and Wetherspoons over fellow newcomers West End Band A. Nathan Taylor (Duke C) fired a 19 darter.

Premier Division dominoes has Vine A setting the pace after a 6-2 win at the Oddies, with promoted pair Willaston Club and Broughton Arms and Horse Shoe one point behind after wins over Cosey Club, who won the last three games to make the score more respectable, Pioneers Club A and Eight Farmers A.

Division One dominoes has Cheshire Cheese, as in the darts, top scoring with a 7-1 win at the Crown, for whom Cliff Garner staved off the whitewash. One point behind are Amalgamated A, who beat their B team 6-2, while Nantwich Road A let slip a 3-0 advantage in their draw with location colleagues ASLEF.

Division Two dominoes has promoted Coppenhall Club to the fore after a 6-2 win at Sydney Arms, who have Flying Lady A, Bridge A, White Lion and Rising Sun one point behind after respective 5-3 wins over promoted Raven, Bridge C, Kings Arms B and Brunel C.

Division Three dominoes has a trio of six hitters to the fore in the shape of promoted Nags Head A plus Flying Lady B and White Lion.

Division Four dominoes returned two 5-3 away wins by new team Captain Webb and Coach & Horses over Eight Farmers B, who made their score more respectable by winning the last three games, and Duke C.

The other two newcomers Wetherspoons and West End Band A drew their clash.
