ON-LOAN Stoke goalkeeper Daniel Gyollai is impressed with the quality in the Nantwich squad after making his debut over Easter.

The giant Hungarian goalkeeper signed last Thursday and his towering presence has played a part in back-to-back Easter wins for the Dabbers, first at home to Barwell and then away at Skelmersdale.

Having made his debut against Barwell, Gyollai admitted settling into the squad has been made very easy.

“We have got a great group of lads and they have made me feel very welcome straight away,” he said.

“It was easy to settle in and I’m pleased I had a reasonably good game against Barwell in tough conditions and we got the job done in the end so we are happy with that.”

He couldn’t have asked for a tougher assignment for his debut as the horrendous weather conditions made goalkeeping extremely tricky.

But fellow debutant Max Harrop struck late on to seal a crucial win for the Dabbers.

Despite not holding out for a clean sheet, Gyollai was relatively pleased with his afternoon’s work.

“It was hard because you had the wind and the rain coming straight in your eyes,” he said.

“I felt he was just offside for the goal but it was hard to see clearly.

“We have got to learn from it, and we will get better because of it. You can’t choose the weather conditions each time you play and we ground out a fantastic win in the circumstances.”

Nantwich made it a very happy Easter with a well-earned 1-0 victory over Skelmersdale on Easter Monday.

In a game in which they had the lion’s share of chances, particularly in the second half when they peppered the home goal, they finally broke through when Elliot Osborne converted a penalty 20 minutes from time.
