NANTWICH Town striker Max Harrop says he wants to repay the fans and manager Phil Parkinson after he marked his return to the club with a goal.

Harrop returned to the Weaver Stadium following a spell Mossley last month, scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory against Barwell at Easter.

Now the former Bury man says he will do “anything” to help push the club up the table, starting with the tough prospect of a trip to title-hopefuls Darlington tonight, Thursday.

He said: “I feel I have got a point to prove to a lot of people at the club, and I want to repay the faith the fans have shown in me.

“I will do anything for this club, for the fans and anyone who works here; I really want to help in any way I can to push up and up the league table.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve got again, and I will take it with both hands.”

Harrop says the decision to return to the Dabbers was a “no-brainer” and praised the job Parkinson has done at the club.

“As soon as the gaffer rang me and said he wanted me back down at Nantwich it was a no-brainer for me,” he said.

“He is a fantastic manager and soon as I knew he was interested in me it was an easy decision to make.

“You can see what he has done at Nantwich already in less than a year and next season can only be even better.”

After a disappointing campaign last time out, the Dabbers currently sit 10th in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division table.

They still have an outside chance of making the play-offs.

Having spent most of the season watching the team from afar, Harrop is delighted with how the season has gone.

“It’s been tremendous and I’ve said it every year since I’ve been with Nantwich that we should be in the top six and pushing for the play offs,” he said.

“We didn’t have all the right people in to do that last season but now we do, it can push us on to the next level and help us to get better and better.”
