TWO local racing drivers enjoyed a profitable weekend at Oulton Park’s Summer Solstice race day on Saturday.

Andy Robinson from Crewe, in his Alfa Romeo 156, was lying seventh in the overall Alfa Romeo Championship.

Starting from third in the first of his two races, he got up to second by the end of the first lap and then held that place until the chequered flag and a podium place. For the next race, he again got into second place and was trying to trying to catch the car in front when the leader retired with suspension failure gifting Robinson the race win and the top step of the podium this time.

Nantwich’s Douglas Crosbie, racing in the fiercely competitive Formula Ford 1600 race, was at his best and took pole position for the start before leading the race from start to finish for his visit to the podium’s top step as well as getting fastest lap – a clean sweep of all the race statistics.
