TWO local athletes look set to line up against each other after earning spots on the Great Britain team for the upcoming Paralympic Games.

Nantwich’s Andy Small will race in the 100m T33 cerebral palsy class for wheelchair athletes when the Games get underway in Rio on September 7.

Small, who attended the last Paralympics in London four years ago as a spectator, has already earned Team GB selection this year and competed at the IPC European Championships last month.

The Stockport wheelchair racing group member completed a British 1-2-3 at the championships in Grosseto as he took home the bronze medal.

He will line up against clubmate Dan Bramall, from Minshull Vernon, in Rio after he too was selected in the T33 class.

Bramall, who only took up wheelchair racing five years ago, has also been in good form as he won silver at the European Championships behind British winner Toby Gold.

He also won a silver medal at last year’s World Championships in Qatar, so goes into the Games as a strong medal contender.

The duo will join the likes of David Weir, Hannah Cockroft and Jonnie Peacock, all London 2012 gold medallists, in representing Team GB in Brazil.
