Buxton 4 Nantwich Town 1

NANTWICH’S unbeaten away record came crashing to the ground as they suffered their first league defeat for nearly three months at Buxton on Tuesday.

Ryan Brooke gave Phil Parkinson’s side a half-time lead against their fellow play-off challengers, but they fell apart in the second half.

Joel Bembo-Leta’s double turned the game in the Bucks’ favour before late goals from Bradley Abbott and Bradley Grayson sealed Nantwich’s fate.

Prior to Tuesday, the Dabbers’ previous league reverse was against Stourbridge on August 27.

They now sit ninth in the Evo-Stik Premier Division table, three points outside the play-off places, ahead of Saturday’s FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round trip to Shaw Lane, kick off 3pm.

Tuesday’s game did not take long to burst into life and, after Sean Cooke had a strong penalty shout turned down, the Dabbers hit the front after seven minutes when Brooke seized upon a poor backpass and kept his composure to slot home the opener.

Brooke then forced a save from Bucks stopper Jan Budtz as the visitors hunted a second goal before the hosts started to get a foothold in the game.

Ali Taylor had a cross cleared off the line as Nantwich held on to their lead until half-time.

However, what followed was a half to forget for the visitors.

Bembo-Leta equalised ten minutes after the break when a goalmouth scramble fell kindly for him to stab home.

The Dabbers had their chances, with substitute Osadebi Abadaki forcing Budtz into a save before Cooke dragged an effort wide.

The hosts took the lead inside the final 20 minutes when goalkeeper Dave Parton and defender Curtis Jones left a cross for each other and Bembo-Leta stole in to score.

Buxton ended the game as a contest with time running out when Abbott curled in a superb free-kick before Grayson netted from the spot to seal the victory after a foul by Dabbers substitute Joe Mwasile.
