Coalville Town 3  Nantwich Town 1

NANTWICH Town slipped to their third consecutive away defeat at Coalville on Saturday.

Having previously been unbeaten away from the Weaver Stadium all season, the Dabbers have now lost their last two league games on the road as well as crashing out of the FA Trophy at Shaw Lane.

Phil Parkinson’s side had recovered from falling behind early when Joe Mwasile cancelled out Jack McMillan’s opener for the hosts.

However, goals after half-time from Ryan Robbins and Messiah McDonald condemned Town to another reverse and dented their play-off hopes.

With attacking duo Sean Cooke and Josh Hancock missing through injury and suspension respectively, Dabbers boss Parkinson brought Wayne Riley and Dave Walker into his starting line-up.

The changes perhaps unsettled the visitors as Coalville got off to a flying start when McMillan curled home a free-kick after just five minutes.

After being distinctly Second-best in the opening minutes, Nantwich started to get a foothold with Tim Sanders and Theo Stair going close.

The equaliser came Stair played an inch-perfect through-ball to Mwasile and he calmly slotted past Coalville stopper Sean Bowles.

Nantwich finished the first half strongly, with Mwasile seeing an effort crash back off the post before Walker had a goal ruled out for offside.

The second half began in a similar vein to the first, with the hosts pressing but Dabbers keeper Dave Parton was in good form to keep out McDonald.

However, Parton could do nothing to prevent the hosts re-taking the lead when Kyle Bryant squared the ball across the box for Robbins to bundle home.

The visitors pressed for a second equaliser, with Andy White seeing an effort superbly saved by Bowles before they struck the post for a second time, this time after Walker had diverted White’s cross goalwards.

However, Coalville sealed victory inside the final ten minutes when McDonald smashed into the top corner.

The Dabbers, now 12th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division table, visit high-flying Whitby Town on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
