VINE A went one better than last year as they secured victory in the final of the Crewe Oddies Club Open League Winter Team Knockout.
Having been losing finalists last year, the Premier Division side secured an 8-4 aggregate win over Cheshire Cheese to ensure they took home the honours.
Cheese got off to a good start in the final, with Barry Cooper winning the first darts game only for the Vine to hit back with a darts win by Graham Arrowsmith and a dominoes victory from Howard Bateman before Wendy Edwards’ dominoes success to bring the Cheese level at 2-2.
Robbie Arrowsmith, hitting a 20 darter, put Vine in front and they increased their lead to 7-2 with further darts victories by Steve Tizard and Ken Cliffe and dominoes wins from Mick Haselden and Jim Ross.
While dominoes wins by Cheshire Cheese’s Mick Halligan and Jamie Smith reduced the deficit to 7-4, Mick Hassall then won the deciding darts game to secure Vine’s success.
