DIVISION Three side Duke of Bridgewater C produced the shock of the Crewe Oddies Club Open League Summer Team Knockout second round with their 8-7 victory over Premier Division side Cheshire Cheese.

Duke got off to a good start, taking the darts 4-3 thanks to victories from Pete Broadhurst, Jake Foster, Daz Large and Nathan Taylor. With the six dominoes singles being shared, it left the result to be decided by the pairs games.

Cheese pair Wendy Edwards/Miles Halligan won the first pairs game to level the score at 7-7, only for Duke to complete their giant-killing act when Dave Mulliner and Nathan Taylor won the deciding game giving them an aggregate 8-7 victory.

In the all-Premier Division clash between last season’s winners Vine A and West End Lmr B, the latter took the darts 6-1 with Ken Cliffe being Vine’s only winner.

As the dominoes singles were shared, Lmr B ran out comfortable 9-4 aggregate winners.

Rob Paine with 16 darts and Paul Blythe, 17 darts, were on the mark for Willaston Club as they registered a 10-5 aggregate victory while Martin Patrick responded with a an 18-darter for opponents Raven.

Aaron Russell’s 16-dart game and Stewart Bennett’s 180 helped Eight Farmers A to an easy 10-5 victory over visitors Nags Head A.

The Oddies’ Reg Corbett was also in form with a 20-darter, helping them to a 9-3 victory against hosts Hawk.

Express trounced visitors Swan & Chequers 10-3, aided by Stuart Wilson’s 17-dart game and Darren Cooper’s 180.

Premier Division outfit Coppenhall Club B white-washed fourth division visitors Coach & Horses 7-0 at darts but struggled to get the decisive dominoes victory.

They had to wait until Clive Lucking won the sixth dominoes game giving them an 8-5 aggregate victory after Coach had retaliated, winning the first five dominoes games.

There were close encounters at Foresters A and Sydney Arms, where respective opponents Coppenhall Club A and Hop Pole B had to wait until the final dominoes pairs game for the ties to be decided.

The decisive games were won for Coppenhall A by Roy Clews/Mick Cunningham, while Russ Halden/Debi Kay secured Hop Pole B’s 8-7 victory.

There were easy home victories for Nantwich Rd Club (11-4), Pioneers club (9-4), Amalgamated B (10-1) and Broughton (8-3) against respective opponents Flying Lady A, Bridge C, Dishers A and Kings Arms, with comfortable away victories for White Lion(Copp) (9-4) and Amalgamated A (11-4) against respective opponents Junction and Nags Head B.
