Nantwich Town 3 Witton Albion 2

NANTWICH ended a five-game losing run in the Evo-Stik Premier Division by edging out Witton Albion on Saturday.

An own goal from Witton's Rob Hopley got the ball rolling in just the second minute as the striker inadvertedly bundled home after Dabbers skipper Sam Hall had flicked on a corner.

Nine minutes later, things got even better for Dave Cooke's men when, after being found by Caspar Hughes in a well-worked free kick routine, Sean Cooke buried a shot past visiting keeper Calvin Hare.

Hopley scored at the right end before the half-hour, turning in the box and firing into the corner to reduce Nantwich's lead.

However, after the break, Matthew Bell restored the home side's two-goal cushion with a superb, 25-yard free kick.

Witton ensured a nervy finish when Paul Williams converted a spot kick after Nathan Cotterell was adjudged to have fouled Hopley in the area, but the Dabbers held on for victory.
