SHANAZE Reade insists BMX glory remains her primary goal for 2008.

The 20-year-old from Crewe is favourite for the Olympic title in Beijing.

And she's fully focused on her first love despite claiming another gold on the track last week.

Reade and Victoria Pendleton retained the Team Sprint title for Team GB at the World Track Championships in Manchester, last week.

Breaking the world record for a second successive year in qualifiying, they went on to recover from a 0.04 second deficit on the first lap to beat China in the final.

Reade also finished seventh in the 500m time trial, starting strongly with the fastest lap at that point before fading on the second.

The former Victoria School pupil was happy with her performances at the Manchester Velodrome but is already eyeing her BMX.

"I'm really speechless, to break the world record again with an amazing athlete like Victoria," she said.

"It's a massive achievement and to get a PB for my lap as well, I feel part of the team.

"I take life a week at a time but in the future I could become a track cyclist.

"I do though have a triple world champion on the track with me to compete with so for the moment, BMX is my main focus for 2008.

"I looked at my splits for the 500 and I think I was winning or second for a lap and half and for me that is a massive achievement.

"I got seventh which was slightly worse than last year but went out with a faster lap.

"For me it was all about the Team Sprint.

"It's only if Victoria doesn't do the 500m that I step in."

Reade has little time to rest as she looks to defend her title at the BMX World Championships next month.

"The BMX Worlds are very important for me," she added.

"I have to do well to qualify for the Olympics so it is going to be a big hit.

"I need to get into the semi-final to qualify."

Team GB went on to win nine golds, two for Pendleton who also also claimed a silver.
