ANOTHER Winnington Park Hockey Club side has sealed promotion.

The women’s team were already going up on the back of becoming champions of their division, and now the women’s second team are following suit thanks to confirming a second-place finish in their division.

Izzy Warrener netted a second-half hat-trick as the women’s team got the job done 6-1 at Macclesfield in North West Women’s Division Five South (Central).

Park dominated from the start, taking a well deserved lead courtesy of Eileen Miller.

Charlotte Holt made it 2-0 before half-time and she added a second along with Warrener’s hat-trick and another effort from Sarah Smith after the break, before Macclesfield notched a consolation effort.

The men’s seconds, who won 8-0 at Deeside in North West Men’s Division Five South (Central), have also confirmed a second-place finish – though that does not bring promotion.

Six first-half goals game from Mark Leigh, Harrison Austin, two, Harry Garner, Paul Stackhouse and John Stackhouse.

After the break, a well-worked short corner gave Austin his hat-trick and captain Jonny McKeown wrapped up the win when he received the ball with his back togoal before pirouetting and lifting the ball over the oncoming keeper.

Man of the match was awarded to captain McKeown and Tommy Johnson.

The women’s firsts maintained their season’s 100 per cent win record with a 3-2 home success against Wilmslow.

They behind early in the game but got it back to 1-1 quickly when Jaz Barlow scored from a short corner.

Park doubled their lead 10 minutes later from a counter attack and Loz Miller scored from a short corner in the second half to make it 3-1.

Wilmslow scored again with about 15 minutes to go but Park controlled the game until the final whistle.

Winnington Park men’s firsts headed to Oxton looking to continue a good run of form.

In the first half they scored from open play via Richard Taig to go in front. Oxton pulled a goal back late on in the first half and that is how the game ended, 1-1, with goalkeeper Andy Palin the man of the match.

Park men’s thirds lost 3-1 against an experienced Crewe side.

Being 1-0 down at half-time was probably the right score in terms of representing the run of play in the first half.

After the break Park took the game to Crewe, and they became very subdued because of the pressing and Park created two to three good chances with them all missing by a whisker.

Crewe scored two goals against the run of play but Park continued to press and stand-in defender and man-of-the-match Dave Mitchell scored a consolation goal.
