John Owen, RFU immediate past president, right, presents the award to Robin Astra, chairman of Sandbach RUFC
SANDBACH RUFC chairman Robin Astles is delighted that the club’s efforts are being rewarded.
An RFU President’s XV Award has been received in recognition of development work.
The club has been presented with the Playing Opportunities Award in celebration of the implementation of five initiatives to increase playing potential in touch rugby, in the women’s game, at under sixes level, in the four-year-olds’ social level and in senior colts.
Although the club has achieved considerable success at first XV standard, it is proving strong commitment to creating playing opportunities for all.
Astles said: “We’re very pleased to have been selected for this award as it recognises what many members have worked hard to achieve over the years.”
Sandbach RUFC received a cheque for £500 and a special trophy presented by John Owen, RFU immediate past president.
