CREWE Flyers swimmer Grace Farr picked up a silver medal in only her second appearance for Cheshire in the Inter County Gala at Fenton Manor Pool.

Farr grabbed second place as part of the girls medley relay team, which, when added to her fourth-place finish in the 100m breaststroke, helped the Cheshire team finish top of the pile with a points total of 236.

Farr was also one of five Flyers selected to represent the club at the English Schools Swimming Association north west trials held in Birkenhead and Blackpool on Saturday.

She joined Aaron Glover, Elliot Bloor, Eleanor Bloor and Stuart Eastwood at the event, in which swimmers were allowed to participate in only two races each.

Swimming in Birkenhead, Elliot Bloor scooped gold in the senior boys’ 100m fly in 1min 0.63secs, followed by a third-place finish in the 100m freestyle in 55.35secs.

Elliot’s sister Eleanor also grabbed a medal, finishing second in the intermediate girls’ 100m backstroke in 1min 8.11secs, before narrowly missing out on a second medal when finiching fourth in the 100m freestyle in 1min 4.19secs.

Aaron Glover completed the trio in Liverpool, finishing ninth in the junior boys' 100m fly in 1min 11.27secs and 11th in the 100m freestyle in 1min 4.48secs.

Farr and Eastwood were in Blackpool for the event, with Farr finishing fifth in the junior girls' 200m in 2mins 33.16secs and sixth in the 100m breaststroke in 1min 21.43secs Eastwood just missed out on a medal in the junior boys’ 200m, placing fourth in 2mins 40.48secs, before finishing eighth in the 100m breaststroke in 1min 22.76secs.
