NANTWICH driver Jordan Witt enjoyed one of his best ever days on the track when gaining his first win in the GT Cup Championship at Brands Hatch.

Racing his Chevron GT3 in Class One of the championship, Witt went out on to the dry track during qualifying and battled a strong wind to post his fastest time of 46mins 8.94secs, which was good enough to give him pole position by more than a second from Derek Johnston in a Ferrari 458.

Witt was averaging a speed of 92:73mph for the 1.2-mile circuit, meaning it was in great shape ahead of the first of Witt's three races throughout the weekend.

Witt took up his position at the front of the race for a rolling start and by the time Witt got to the first corner he was already pulling away from the chasing pack, which was headed by Johnston.

Witt was being chased by Ferraris, Porsches and BMWs, but even they had no answer to the speed of the Chevron and the top class driving of Witt, who was not only lapping consistently but also making sure he kept the car on the track.

After 31 laps Witt took the chequered flag, his maiden first place finish in the Chevron GT3.

With spirits high, Witt emerged for race two later that day and maintained his first place start ahead of Johnston, just managing to keep ahead of the Ferrari into the first corner.

He then started to pull away from the second-place car, driving steadily for 31 more laps to claim a momentous second victory in as many races.

Sunday morning dawned and Witt was facing the prospect of a perfect weekend of three wins from three races.

The weather held to produce perfect driving conditions, meaning that it was neck and neck between the Chevron and the Ferrari heading into the first corner.

Johnston just managed to sneak ahead in the first corner, but it was only a matter of time before Witt pounced at Clearways corner and started putting some distance between himself and the chasing pack.

Thirty one laps in Witt passed the chequered flag in first place to record a superb third win of the weekend, the first time he or his Chevron had recorded three class wins.

Now they have the taste for success, Witt and his Chevron team will return to Oulton Park on Saturday for the Britcar Endurance series.
