Dabbers chances scuppered by the elements

RAIN ruined the Nantwich versus Toft match which the champions might have won had the elements not intervened.

Nantwich were bowled out for 130, Shaun Mudalige 5-35, and Toft had stuttered to 75-8 off 23 overs when the players were forced off, Jimmy Warrington taking 3-16 and spinner Ollie Griffiths 3-30.

Meanwhile Dabbers have been given an away draw at Hyde in the quarter final of the Cheshire Cup - with the date still to be arranged.

They will be looking to bounce back in that competition after suffering a surprise defeat in the League T20 competition came last Thursday.

Second Division wooden-spoonists Malpas won by 38 runs in the Plate’s round 2.

Malpas match-winner was Aussie all-rounder Patrick Mackrell, who has had a relatively quiet time in the League. He top-scored with 67 in Malpas’ 136-6, Jimmy Warrington taking 4-11.

Mackrell then took 3-15 and with Jon Suckley’s 2-13, bowled the Dabbers out for 98, their top scorer being bowler Warrington with 26 at number nine followed by R. Howell with 25.

Nantwich fielded a near full-strength team apart from skipper Andy Newton and Lancashire 2nd’s Louis Bentley.

In the ECB Premier League fixture on Saturday,12.30pm, Dabbers will entertain Didsbury.
