SHANAZE Reid was in impressive form as she booked her ticket to the London Olympics BMX final.

The 23-year-old from Crewe was second in her first run of the semi finals, a clear winner of the second run and second in the third run, qualifying second in heat one behind Caroline Buchanan.

Reid, a member of the Crewe-based Cheshire Ghost Riders club, had support from Prime Minister David Cameron and sporting icon David Beckham among the 6,000 crowd alongside the Olympic Park track.

Her final is due to start at 4.30pm.

Reade will see it as redemption time for Beijing 2008.

In the first ever Olympic BMX event, favourite Reade crashed on the last bend of the final as she tried to overtake eventual winner Anne-Caroline Chausson.

Reade, the World BMX champion in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 as well as being the Olympic test event winner last year, goes into the final as favourite.

She started riding as a 10-year-old and has been Britain’s number one since she was 17 years old.
