Witt tames Brands Hatch

NANTWICH racing driver Jordan Witt competed in the GT Cup Championship over the weekend on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch in Kent.

Racing in his Chevron GT3 car a good qualifying session for Witt put him third on the grid with a time of 1.30.123 with a new McLaren MP12C GT3 on pole.

Witt's time for the circuit measuring 2.43 miles was an average speed of 97.19 MPH.

The cars came out for the first race of the weekend and Witt took his place on the first row of the grid as the second fastest car in qualifying had suffered a huge fire and wouldn’t be able to race.

As per the normal rolling start Witt was looking to take the lead into the first corner of the race but was just edged out by the McLaren.

The order of the race only lasted a couple of laps when Witt made a move and not only got past the McLaren supercar he started to pull away from it and eventually won the race by 13.97 seconds with the McLaren taking second and a Mosler in third.

Sunday morning saw the second race of the weekend from Witt. Once again it was the Chevron of Witt fighting for the race lead and the Mighty McLaren with the latter just getting it's nose in front to beat Witt into second.

In the last race of the weekend Witt and Geddie (McLaren) were level pegging going around the first lap of the track and then going into Surtees corner Witt made his move to take over the race lead and starting putting some distance between himself and not only the McLaren but also the chasing pack of cars. The race could only run for just over 22 minutes due to a noise curfew but this didn’t stop Witt by winning by a margin of 6.93 seconds from the Geddie McLaren.

This race also gave Witt his fastest lap time of the whole weekend with a time of 1.28.885 for an average speed of 98.55 MPH.

The next races for the Chevron GT3 car and Witt will be at Silverstone in a couple of weeks time when it will be racing in the British GT championship.
