Fourteenth place finish for Loffstadt at Oulton Park

SANDBACH’S Ron Loffstadt raced his RSL Motor Services sponsored 1600cc Ford Escort XR3i in the CFT Services Ford XR Challenge races at Oulton Park.

A large entry list and two races back-to-back promised a tight weekend of racing and Loffstadt revelled in the competition, qualifying in 18th place on the grid for race one.

A good start saw him move up four places within the first lap and though he dropped back several places over the next seven laps a strong finish pushed him up through the rankings to finish 14th.

Starting the second race from 14th on the grid, Loffstadt did not enjoy such a smooth run the second time around, battling hard but dropping through the pack to 17th.

Luck was on his side however, as some crashes near the front of the race meant he was able to make up three places and pass the chequered flag in 14th.
