STEVE Davis insists there is no problem with supporters as he calls for them to help get Crewe’s season back on track.

Lying 17th in League One with just five points out of their first six games, the Alex will be looking to get back to winning ways against Walsall on Saturday.

After last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Peterborough, manager Darren Ferguson revealed scout reports had suggested unrest among the home support which they hoped to capitalise on.

Various spats between sets of Alex supporters and players on Twitter have also been well documented.

However Crewe boss Steve Davis insists there is no beef.

“Maybe their scouts picked it up from different games but I’ve never thought that,” he said.

“Our fans are no different to any other crowd.

“They want their team to do well and if it is not going well, they show their dissatisfaction.

“The crowd is always important.

“At certain times in the game you can sense their anxiety and I can feel that behind me when I’m on the touchline.

“But I’m no different because I feel that anxiety as well.

“Last Saturday the crowd really played their part in trying to get us over the line.

“They were really good and I’ve no qualms with our support.

“They have been fantastic since I took over the job and they have been very supportive in what I’m doing.”

Both Matt Tootle and Ryan Colclough should be fit for Saturday’s big home clash against the mid-table Saddlers.

“Toots suffered a blow on his hamstring midway through the first-half,” added Davis.

“He tried to play on but it got progressively worse.

“He’s already out running so it should be fine.

“Ryan is making good progress. His bruising around the hip has nearly settled down so hopefully he’ll be able to take part on Saturday.”

Davis says Crewe must cut out the sort of errors that have littered their performances in the last month.

“The players were disappointed with last Saturday’s result and that’s how it should be,” he continued.

“They were in the dressing room with their heads down thinking they should have won it and we all thought that.

“But I’m looking at the bigger picture.

“If we hadn’t conceded late goals against Rotherham and Peterborough we’d be on nine points and we’d be happy.

“It’s little defining moments we have to do better with.”

Crewe will travel to Fleetwood Town in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round on Tuesday, Oct 8.
