CREWE are braced for bids to sign Byron Moore with the January transfer window now open.

Steve Davis has reiterated intentions to keep his squad intact as he looks to stave off relegation in 2014.

However speculation continues to mount over the futures of both Matt Tootle and the 25-year-old winger, who is out-of-contract this summer.

Championship outfit Blackburn apparently head the list of admirers and may try to pounce early with an offer that suits both Crewe and convinces Moore not to sit it out.

As both Mathias Pogba and Ryan Colclough return to action, the Alex just might be able to cope with losing arguably their best performer of a tough season so far.

But Davis insists he does not want to lose anyone.

“We don’t have to sell anyone and both players are under contract,” he explained.

“They are important players to us.

“Harry (Davis), Toots and Byron have been our most consistent players and we don’t really want to lose any of those at the moment.

“We’ve lost too many key players in a short space of time as it is with three going in 11 months.

“Losing anyone else before the summer would be detrimental to us because it would hit our chances of staying in this division, which is what we want to do.”

Anthony Grant also looks set to stick around after featuring in Crewe’s festive fixtures.

The 26-year-old midfielder had been made available for loan after Davis axed him from the first-team squad due to ‘attitude problems’.

However the boss still feels Grant could play a big part in salvaging the Alex’s League One status.

“We had to get him back involved because we’re going to need him,” he added.

“His attitude has been fine and both him and Brad (Inman) have been good.

“I brought him here to try and help us and he has to get out there and do the business.”

Saturday’s home clash against MK Dons has been rearranged due to their FA Cup Third Round clash at Wigan. This fixture will now take place on Tuesday, January 21.

Following a blank weekend, the Alex return to action at Rotherham next Saturday, January 11.
