A CHUKS Aneke double was not enough for the Alex to strengthen their survival bid as Peterborough United notched four times at London Road.
Darren Ferguson’s men did their play off hopes no harm with the three points, but Crewe are now languishing third from bottom in League One.
Aneke had opened the scoring for the Railwaymen on 13 minutes with a spectacular curling effort which found the top corner.
But it took Peterborough only two minutes to pull level as Harry Davis fouled Conor Washington and Britt Assombalonga netted from the spot for his 25th goal of the season.
Nicky Ajose put the finishing touches on a Danny Swanson pass as the hosts entered the break in the lead.
Aneke bagged his second, levelling for the visitors as the game approached the hour mark, but Swanson restored their lead and Washington grabbed his first Peterborough goal to seal the win.
