UCHE Ikpeazu wants to stay and ensure Crewe Alexandra beat the drop once again.

The 19-year-old, who has scored two goals in six appearances, is set to return to Watford at the end of this month.

However, Ikpeazu hopes to extend his loan stint and repay the faith of both club and supporters.

Already a hero after bagging four in 10 to help the Alex survive last season, the striker has set his heart on a repeat.

“I love it here,” he explained.

“I don’t feel like I’ve been given an opportunity at Watford so it’s good to be back playing league football and scoring goals.

“I’m enjoying it here and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

“The management believe in me, my teammates believe in me and I believe I can get some goals if I stay injury free.

“The way we play here suits me and I have to give a big shout out to the management because they are helping me to develop my skills and use my body even better than I do.”

Ikpeazu has already developed an exciting partnership alongside fellow loan-man Nicky Ajose, with their desire for goals evident.

“I’m persistent and I have to keep that mentality,” he added.

“I know I am physical and a lot of people say I’m fouling but that’s the way I play and I ain’t changing that.

“Nicky and me have had a few fights over penalties but as long as they go in, that’s the main thing.

“We’re forming a good partnership together and long may it continue.

“The most important thing is the team is winning.”

Boss Steve Davis believes both have given Crewe a great chance of staying out of the drop zone.

“They’ve both been very instrumental in trying to turn our season around,” he said.

“We knew they would be a threat together and we’ve also got Lauri (Dalla Valle) who looks lively.”

Now 19th in League One, the Alex head to mid-table Notts County on Saturday.

Anthony Grant should retain his place despite picking up a hip injury in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Gillingham.

Harry Davis is also expected to start after losing one of teeth in that clash while George Ray returns from his second suspension.

"As a manager you trust your players and George has to learn,” added Davis.

“It’s up to him and he’s going to have to work hard in training to try and get back in the team.”

Lee Molyneux has joined Tranmere after seeing his deal with Crewe terminated by mutual consent.

Former Port Vale keeper Joe Anyon is training with the club as Davis targets cover for Ben Garratt.
