Crewe Alexandra 5 Chesterfield 1
CREWE got back to winning ways by thrashing struggling Chesterfield at Gresty Road on Saturday.
Chris Porter struck twice for The Alex, with Perry Ng, George Cooper and Callum Ainley completing the rout.
Porter drove past Spirietes keeper Tommy Lee in the sixth minute to get Dave Artell’s side off to a flyer, but the game was not made safe until after the break.
The Alex hit a purple patch of three goals inside 20 second-half minutes, with Porter sweeping home after being released by Ryan Wintle two minutes after the restart.
Ng then intercepted a poor throw by Lee before advancing into the box and driving into the corner, while Cooper made it 4-0 when he picked his spot after turning past a defender.
Chesterfield got on the scoresheet when Kristian Dennis’ shot hit the bar and went in off unfortunate Crewe defender Eddie Nolan.
However, The Alex rounded off the hammering when Ainley converted the rebound after Jordan Bowery’s effort was saved.
Crewe: Garratt, Ng, Nolan, Raynes, Bakayogo, Cooper (Kirk), Walker (Ainley), Wintle, Lowery, Porter (Bowery), Dagnall. Subs not used: Richards, Pickering, Dale, Stubbs.
