LATEST signing John Brayford said he hopes to be back in training this week and is keen to get his first run out for the Alex.
The former Burton Albion defender signed a three-year contract with Crewe for an undisclosed fee last week.
The 20-year-old progressed through the youth ranks with the Brewers, making 78 appearances for Nigel Clough’s side in the Conference as he developed into their best player.
Brayford, who can play as full back or centre half, said: “I am back running and hope to train on Thursday (today).
“It is frustrating because I haven't been injured for four years and I want to get cracking.
“I hope I am part of Steve's plans when I am fit.
“I hope the step up isn't too big, you see many progress even further but it is one step at a time.
“I had heard rumours about Crewe but didn’t believe it until Nigel Clough phoned me.
“I didn't hesitate.
“I trained most days at Burton so I am used to the schedule. I have settled in well, a few have taken the mick out of my haircut but I’m used to that.
“I was at a local side when I was asked to go for a trial at Burton and it went from there.”
