FORMER Premiership striker Melvin Robinson scored his first two goals for Nantwich Town this week but his new team crashed out of two cup competitions.
The Dabbers fell 3-0 at home to Blue Square outfit Stalybridge Celtic in the first round of the FA Trophy on Saturday and followed that up with a 4-3 reverse at lower division Cammell Laird on Tuesday in the Cheshire Senior Cup quarter finals.
Michael Lennon’s opener and then two from Robinson on his debut appearance put the Dabbers 3-1 ahead but Laird hit back to force extra time.
They struck the winning goal courtesy of Shaun Tuck in the 118th minute.
Nantwich will be hoping for better luck in knockout football when they play host to Matlock in the rescheduled Challenge Cup third-round clash at Weaver Stadium on Tuesday.
That game kicks off 7.45pm, with the winners set for a test away to Mickleover Sports in the fourth round in the week beginning January 11.
Before that though the Dabbers face a long trip to Durham in the UniBond Premier Division on Saturday.
