Nantwich Town 0 Worksop Town 5

NANTWICH Town fell to their heaviest home defeat since February 2011 as Worksop Town ran riot at the Weaver Stadium.

The Tigers continued their impressive run of form as they hammered Dabbers 5-0 in a rare lacklustre display from Jimmy Quinn’s side.

Goals from Kern Miller, Ash Burbeary, Craig King, Leon Mettam and Tom Denton sent The Dabbers out of the playoff places.

Nantwich made one change to the side that beat Redditch United, and with Rod McDonald not fit to start Will Jones deputised.

It was Nantwich who went closest to opening the scoring in the early stages though, as Jones smashed Niall Maguire’s knock down over.

The deadlock was broken on the half hour, when Miller volleyed Burbeary’s corner into the bottom right hand corner of Jonny Brain’s goal.

The lead was doubled two minutes later, Mettam judged to have been brought down in the penalty area by Darren Moss and Burbeary stepped up to send Brain the wrong way.

Worksop put the game to bed on the stroke of half-time, as Burbeary again provided the assist, this time for King who rifled home from 10 yards.

Nantwich started the second-half in a similar fashion to the first but barring Jones’ tame 20 yard effort they never tested Paul Bostock in The Tigers goal.

Mettam made it 4-0 on 73 minutes, after he got in behind Dabbers’ back line and lobbed the ball over the stranded Brain.

Worksop’s five-star performance was finished off 10 minutes from time, when Denton latched on to King’s cross and prodded home from six yards to round off an afternoon to forget for the hosts.
