NANTWICH Town secured a comfortable mid-table position in the Evo-Stik Premier Division thanks to a brilliant double against Kendal Town and Rushall Olympic.

Jimmy Quinn's men knocked in seven goals across the two matches, knocking four past mid-table rivals Rushall to close the gap on eighth place to a single point.

They have a tougher task ahead of them this weekend when they travel to sixth-place Hednesford Town on Sunday, kick off 3pm, with Town still hunting for a play-off place to ensure Dabbers will have their work cut out.

DAVE MacPherson grabbed a brace as Nantwich closed the gap on eighth place at the Weaver Stadium.

The Dabbers had fallen behind to a Mitchell Tolley penalty on the half hour, but MacPherson's double helped give the Dabbers a comfortable 4-1 win.

The visitors had the better of the early play and deserved their lead after 30 minutes, but Quinn's young side showed tremendous spirit to draw level before the break through MacPherson's spot kick.

Nantwich's revival continued after half time, with Rod McDonald's close-range header followed by MacPherson's second and a late Tom Unwin finish to complete the scoring.

TWO goals from Michael Lennon helped Nantwich Town to a resounding victory over Kendal.

Kendal will be frustrated with a performance that saw them last 70 minutes until they conceded their first goal, looking good value to hold out for a point until Dabbers' prolific finisher Michael Lennon headed his side in front from Andy White’s left-footed cross.

That lead was doubled ten minutes later when Kendal's tormentor-in-chief Simon Everall again broke clear and fed through Lennon, who cut back for Urwin to hammer into the bottom right-hand corner The win was sealed in stoppage time, when Niall Maguire found Lennon with a perfectly weighted ball to allow the front man to grab his brace with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
