WITH two weeks remaining in the Carlsberg UK Open Summer League the champions and runners-up in Premier Darts are Pioneers and Delamere.

Division One Darts champions are LMR B and Westend Band took the Division Five Dominoes title but the remaining darts and dominoes titles are still up for grabs.

Current champions Pioneers retained the title following an 8-0 whitewash of Horseshoe aided by top darts from Ricky Busteed 17 darts and Tony Richardson, John Cooper, Rob Clarke all hitting 18 darters, Rob Clarke also hit a 180.

The efforts of Horseshoe’s Paul Jones who hit an 18 dart leg and Lee Pointon a maximum 180 were to no avail.

Runners-up Delamere are eighteen points behind the Pies but after their 7-1 thrashing of Flying Lady A are themselves twenty-two points in front of third placed Vine A.

Rob Arrowsmith was top marksman with a 14 dart leg and a 180 with Rob Paine hitting a 17 darter.

Lady’s Mick Whitfield and Phil Shaw also hit maximum 180’s.

Other top marksmen were Tom Kelly (Raven A) 16 darts, Rob Caine (Hop Pole), Barry Cooper (Commercial), Howard Bateman (Vine A) all hit 19 darts, Neil Tudor (Vine A) 20 darts while Sean Potter (Vine A), Joey Reade (Vine A) and Clive Lucking (Hop Pole) hit 180’s.

Cheshire Cheese, 5-3 winners over Woodside aided by a Chris Gibson 130 checkout and a Jay Deaville maximum continue to lead Division One Darts by eleven points.

Nearest challengers Nantwich Rd Aslef also had a 5-3 home victory over Amalgamated A.

They are closely followed by Hawk who are three points adrift following a 5-3 win against North Ward B.

Hawk captain Mick Shea was on the mark with 19 and 20 dart legs, while Amalgamated A’s Derek Latham hit a 15 darter with a 150 finish and a 180 maximum, Cliff Davison (Aslef) 16 darts, and Paul Woodcock (Dishers) with a 103 checkout were the divisions leading marksmen.

LMR B whitewashed bottom team Nantwich Rd 8-0 to be come Division Two Darts champions and lead their nearest challengers Bridge A and Cosey Club by a massive 24 points.

Bridge A and Cosey are level on points after both were held to draws by opponents Kings Arms A and B teams whilst British Lion B’s 4-4 draw with Copp Leighton and White Lion(Copp) B’s 5-3 victory over Crown leaves them a further four points adrift.

Division Two’s leading players were Patrick Lynskey (LMR B) 21 darts, Andrew Rogers (Kings B) 20 darts, Daryll Taylor (Kings A) 20 darts with a ton finish.

The clash between the leading contenders North Ward A and Capt Webb A in Division Three Darts finished in a draw.

Ward had led 3-1 the Webb fought back with Andrew and Kelly Brereton winning the final pairs game to earn the draw which left the North Ward with a one point lead.

The dark-horses in this division could be Flying Lady B after a 5-3 away win at the George are now seven point of the pace in third place but as their last two matches are against the leading teams they could still have a big say in the final outcome.

Vine C whitewashed bottom team Cumberland B 8-0 meanwhile second from bottom Cumberland A’s Dave Parry was top marksman with a 103 checkout.

Sydney Arms for whom Steve Watson hit a 19 darter, set the pace in Division Four Darts by whitewashing bottom team White Lion(Copp) A 8-0.

It gives them a nine-point lead over Cross Keys 5-3 winners at Capt Webb B who are in third place.

But both the ‘Keys’ and ‘Webb’ have a game in hand of leaders Sydney whose final match is against Capt Webb which could be the decider.

Following the resignation of Royal Scot whose record has been expunged from Division Five Darts, there are two contenders.

Westend Band lead Imperial by one point after both had 6-2 victories over respective opponents Prince of Wales A and White Lion (Ford Lane).

The advantage at present is with Imperial who have a game in hand but it could go to the wire as they play each other in the final game of the season.

Premier Dominoes now has four points covering the top five teams.

Rockwood who were on a bye week hold onto the lead by one point from Horseshoe whose 6-2 defeat of Pioneers enables them to move into second place.

The Pi’s fall to fifth and a further point adrift are Flying Lady A who leapfrog Delamere into third place after inflicting a 5-3 defeat.

In Division One Dominoes the clash between top two Dishers and Amalgamated B ended even.

Dishers have a one point advantage but Mals B are now joined on equal points by North Ward B who over the last few weeks have quietly crept into contention.

Following a 6-2 victory at the Hawk, they are now two points ahead of Hawk who remain in fourth spot.

Kings Arms A are the new leaders of Division Two Dominoes after beating Cosey Club 6-2.

They lead deposed leaders Copp Leighton by one point after they lost 5-3 to lowly British Lion B.

Crown and LMR B remain third and fourth after being held to draws by respective opponents White Lion(Copp) B and Nantwich Rd.

Division Three Dominoes looks like a three horse race.

Liberal leap from third to first after a 6-2 success over bottom placed Cumberland A.

The Cumberland B team remain in second spot a point behind after being held to a draw by visitors Vine C.

Deposed leaders Foresters, who had no game, drop to third level points with Cumberland B but behind on results criteria and eight points ahead of the chasing pack.

Leaders Sydney Arms were held to a draw by third placed White Lion(Copp) A in Division Four Dominoes.

That enables second placed Bridge C to take full advantage with a 7-1 victory at Raven B that reduced Sydney’s lead to a single point.

Bridge have a game in hand with White Lion seven points behind.

Westend Band are Division Five Dominoes champions after beating nearest challengers Old Oddfellows 5-3.

That established a thirteen point gap.

The Oddies look favourites to take the runners-up prize providing they don’t slip up in their last match against third placed White Lion(Ford Lane).

All teams must be represented at the AGM.

The meeting takes place on Thursday, August 14, at 8-15 pm at the Liberal Club.
