Crewe Open Summer League

OPENING matches in the Cumberland Arms Crewe Open Summer League produced some excellent darts performances, none more so than in the Premier Division Darts clash of West End LMR B and Delamere Arms.

LMR B top scored in the section and team member Colin Wilkinson was matched against son Shaun, who won the first leg.

Colin levelled with a 16 darter and in the deciding leg Shaun attempted a 170 checkout but unfortunately hit 25 instead of the bull with his last dart.

Other top LMR performers were Patrick Lynskey (LMR B) who won in 17 and 19 darts, with good back-up provided by Chris Townsend and Dave Bickerton with 18 darters, Dave including a 180 in his.

Robbie Arrowsmith won the opener for Delamere in 12 and 18 darts, concluded with 131 and 120 finishes, with a 180 thrown in for good measure.

Delamere teammates Steve Hassall, Lyndon Cartwright and Graham Arrowsmith were also on the 180 trail with Steve hitting three, Lyndon two and Graham one.

Current champions Pioneers A were held to a draw by visitors Golf Club and promoted British Lion B and Commercial won at Cosey and Cheshire Cheese.

Premier Division Dominoes seems to be heading for another close season after all teams managed three, four or five points.

Division One Darts saw the two relegated teams Vine A and Horse Shoe losing 5-3 to visitors ASLEF and Hop Pole, with promoted White Lion Ford Lane A and Bridge C gaining wins against hosts Bridge A and Amalgamated A.

Mark Woolrich (Amals A) hit a 120 finish to a 15-dart leg that included a 180 and Cliff Davison (ASLEF) won in 18 and 19 darts and hit a 109 checkout.

Division One Dominoes saw relegated Vine A top score with a 6-2 win over ASLEF, with the only other winners Bridge A and Express hitting five against Bridge C and Foresters A.

Division Two Darts contained three draws, with Coppenhall Leighton and the promoted Imperial leading after 5-3 wins over Duke A and Pioneers B.

Tom Kelly (Duke A) won in 20 and 21 darts to provide the top darts in that league.

Division Two Dominoes top scorers were this season’s surprise package Broughton Arms, who beat relegated Woodside 6-2 and Imperial, Duke A and Kings A, who are close behind after 5-3 wins.

Division Three Darts saw promoted Amalgamated Nomads and Rileys hitting opponents Amals B and Lion A for seven apiece, closely shadowed by Lady B who beat West End Band 6-2.

Phil Scane (Lion A) hit a 180 in his teams thrashing at the hands of Rileys.

Division Three Dominoes early pacemakers are Lady B and Liberal A after 6-2 wins over West End Band and Cumberland C.

Division Four Darts top marksmen were Coppenhall Club with a 7-1 rout of promoted hosts Old Oddfellows.

Tom Heywood Jnr (Cumberland B) won with a 107 checkout.

Division Four Dominoes has Vine C and Coppenhall Club to the fore after 6-2 wins over Coach and Horses and Old Oddfellows.

Division Five Darts top scorers were Cumberland E, who walloped relegated White Lion A 7-1.

Dishers A are a point behind after a 6-2 win at Victoria, with Dean Mogford (Dishers A) registering a maximum 180.

Division Five Dominoes top scorers were Brunel A.
