Pioneers A Speed to an 11 points gap in Premier Division Darts

LEADING teams are starting to consolidate their positions as the Cumberland Arms Crewe Open League enters the final third of the season’s fixtures.

Premier Division Darts pacemakers Pioneers A again top scored, with their 7-1 trouncing of bottom team Lady A taking them 11 points clear of Commercial, who beat Golf Club 5-3.

Third placed LMR B also lost ground after their 5-3 win at British Lion B.

A bumper bundle of top arrows was headed by Craig Sharples (Commercial) with a 13 darter and two 177s, but he was beaten 2-1 on legs by Clive Lucking (Golf Club) who concluded a 15 darter with a 121 checkout.

John Speed (Pioneers A) also hit a 15 dart leg and colleague Ted Hankey was on the mark with 16 darters, Ted including a 180 in his.

John Cooper (Pioneers A) won in 17 and 18, while teammate Pete Boughey trioumphed in 17 and 19. Colin Wilkinson (LMR B) also shot 17.

Commercial pair Barry Cooper and Andy Cooke achieved respective 100 and 110 finishes.

Premier Division Dominoes toppers Delamere won 6-2 at White Lion B to go five points clear of LMR B, beaten 5-3 at Lion B. Third placed Golf Club failed to capitalise by only drawing at Commercial.

Division 1 Darts has new leaders in Nantwich Road ASLEF after a whitewash of hosts Express.

One point behind are Vine A, demoted to second despite a good 5-3 win at Hop Pole, who drop two places to fifth.

Foresters A move up two places to third after a 7-1 win at Bridge A.

Trevor Nield (Foresters A) hit 16 and 19 darters and teammate James Blackwood a 17 darter.

Cliff Davison (ASLEF) concluded an 18 darter with a 116 finish and his skipper Graham Arrowsmith ended his 19 dart leg with a 141 checkout and also hit a trio of treble 19s.

Paul Sheehan (Hop Pole) registered a 180.

Division 1 Dominoes had a real shake-up at the top after WLFL A’s 5-3 win at Horse Shoe took them to top spot by two points and demoted Shoe to second.

Express misery continued, their 6-2 loss to ASLEF dumping them into third place, a point behind the Shoe.

The clash of Division 2 Darts top two more or less gifted the title to toppers Imperial after their 6-2 win took them 13 points clear, with losers Broughton now overtaken by Coppenhall Leighton after their 6-2 victory over Kings A.

The Imps’ triumphant night starred Paul Ralphs, Walter Boote and Adele Probin, who hit 18, 19 and 20 dart legs.

Anthony O’Reilly (Coppenhall Leighton) included a 180 in his 20 darter.

Division 2 Dominoes sees Imperial regaining top spot after beating Broughton 5-3, with Coppenhall Leighton dropping three points off the pace after a 7-1 thrashing from Kings B, who consequently vacated bottom place.

Third placed Rockwood are four points back after drawing at Woodside.

Division 3 Darts features Amalgamated Nomads returning to the top by a point after delivering a whitewash to Liberal A.

Deposed leaders Rileys A may yet regret letting slip a 4-1 lead in their draw at Crown.

Division 3 Dominoes pacemakers Liberal A walloped Nomads 7-1 to go 10 points clear of West End Band, who have a match in hand after their match was rescheduled.

Third placed Crown are still a point adrift after losing 5-3 to Rileys A.
