Big wins for darts top trio

THE top trio in Crewe Open League’s Premier Division Darts recorded expected big wins over the bottom three teams.

Forerunners Pioneers A walloped hosts Imperial 7-1 and are nine points ahead of West End LMR B, who delivered a whitewash to bottom team Hop Pole.

Third-placed West End Band C hammered White Lion B 7-1, but the 12-point deficit on their B team will be hard to erase.

Among a limited list of top performers were the Cosey Club trio of Bobby Baynham, Carl Dennel and Ben Davies, who all hit maximum 180s, Bobby and Carl in respective 14 and 15-dart legs.

Graham Arrowsmith (West End C) won in 15 and 19-dart legs and hit a 180, while Tony Richardson (Pioneers A) won in 17 and 20 and also hit a 116 checkout.

Division One pacemakers Nantwich Road ASLEF beat Broughton Arms 6-2 and are now nine points clear of Express B, who beat Bridge C 5-3.

Five points back are Cheshire Cheese, whose 6-2 defeat of hosts Flying Lady A eliminated the Lady from a top-two finish.

Paul Wright (Bridge C) hit an 18-dart leg and Pete Sill (ASLEF) registered a maximum 180.

Division Two’s top two met, with second-placed Woodside inflicting a first defeat on leaders Rockwood with a 5-3 win. Woodside's 12-point deficit is probably too much to make up.

Third-placed Amalgamated B won 6-2 at the Hawk, but are six points adrift.

Clive Lucking (Rockwood) and Andy Mason (Hawk) hit 20 and 21-dart legs, while Mick Shea (Hawk) enjoyed 107 and 116 checkouts.

Stuart Eastwood (Woodside) hit a finish of 100.

Division Three’s top two clashed at the Horse Shoe, with pace-makers WLFL B overturning a 3-0 deficit to come out on top 5-3 and extend their lead to three points.

Third-placed Duke of Bridgwater A maintained their top form by whitewashing visitors Liberal A to move within two points of Shoe.

Vine C came back from 3-0 down to draw at Rising Sun A.

The Duke A trio of Craig and Tim Simpson and Shaun Gilligan hit respective 16, 21 and 18-dart legs and all three hit maximum 180s.

The top two teams also met in Division Four.

Leaders Liberal Club B extended their points lead over Duke of Bridgewater B to eight thanks to a 5-3 victory.

Captain Webb B beat Waldron B 6-2 to close in on Duke B.

Dave Evanson (Liberal B) completed his 18-dart win with a 149 checkout, with Ryan Proctor (Duke B) hitting a 105 finish.

Division Five’s runaway leaders Delamere Arms A beat Brunel Arms 6-2 and need six points from four matches to be champions.

In the contest for runners-up, second-placed Dishers Club A beat a depleted Captain Webb A 6-2, while third-placed Prince of Wales A closed in after walloping bottom team Old Oddfellows 7-1.

Division Six leaders Flying Lady C beat bottom placed hosts Victoria 7-1 and are five points ahead of Swan and Chequers, who beat Cumberland A 5-3.

Third-placed Rileys B are four points further back.
