Swan and Chequers looking like probable champions

CREWE Open League’s Premier Division Dominoes saw the top two meet.

The 5-3 win by leaders West End LMR B over Hop Pole gives them a nine-point buffer.

Third-placed Vine A beat Cosey Club 5-3 and are nowone point behind Pole, with a match in hand.

Division One pacemakers Express A won 5-3 at WLFL A to extend their points lead to nine.

Main challengers Amalgamated A and Nantwich Road ASLEF are separated by one point after suffering defeats at the hands of Foresters Arms A and Broughton Arms. A very close section sees the leaders meeting all three main rivals in their last matches and has five points covering second to seventh places.

Division Two saw the clash of the top two, Rockwood and Woodside, end all square, with Rockwood maybe regretting the loss of a 3-1 lead.

Main challengers Kings Arms A and Crown celebrated 6-2 victories over Coppenhall Leighton and Rileys A, posing a threat to the top two in a section where 35 percent of the season’s matches have ended as draws.

Division Three leaders Horse Shoe moved three points clear after a 6-2 victory over WLFL B.

Second and third-placed Liberal A and Vine C gained 5-3 wins at Duke of Bridgewater B and Rising Sun A, but both must now beat the leaders in their forthcoming clashes. Recovery of the week goes to Dishers Club B, who overturned a 4-0 deficit to draw at Pioneers Club B.

Division Four leaders Waldron B doubled their points lead to four with a 5-3 win at Captain Webb B.

Main challengers Cumberland C lost 5-3 to Nags Head, while Waldron A drew with Delamere B so Coppenhall Club, who beat Kings Arms B 5-3, now return to the fray.

Division Five pacemakers Brunel Arms’ 5-3 win at third-placed Delamere A takes them three points clear of Prince of Wales B, who were beaten 5-3 at White Lion A.

Division Six’s toppers and probable champions Swan and Chequers beat Cumberland C 5-3 and are 13 points clear of Rising Sun B, who beat Foresters B 6-2.

Sun are fast running out of matches and the leaders have a match in hand.
