TWO Premier League teams and two teams from Division Two will battle it out in the semi finals of the Crewe Open League Winter Team Knockout competition.
Reigning champions Pioneers A will face Kings Arms A at the Liberal Club on Monday, February 27, with Westend Band C meeting Rockwood in the other semi final.
The winners of those two matches will then meet at the Liberal Club on Monday, March 5 to decide who will walk away with the title.
Pioneers A strolled into their semi final after inflicting a 9-2 defeat on fellow premiership side White Lion (Copp) B.
The Pioneers’ 7-0 darts white-wash of White Lion was led by a Tony Richardson 17 darter and 18-dart games by captain Pete Boughey, John Cooper and Chris Wooley, who was also on the mark with a 180.
Pies’ aggregate victory was secured when John Speed and Dave Tirrell won two of the four dominoes singles games played.
Westend Band C were the other Premier league team to reach the semis, with Rob Arrowsmith’s 15-dart leg finished with a 101 checkout leading the way as they won the darts 6-1.
Broughton responded with four dominoes victories from Amanda Smith, Martin Blakeman, Alan Oliver and Martin Edwards, but wins for Westend’s Simon Murphy and Reg Beech was enough to secure them passage into the final four.
The Division Two clash between Rockwood and Woodside was a cliff-hanger, being decided on the final dominoes pairs game.
Rockwood took the early advantage when leading the darts 5-2, but Woodside retaliated in the singles dominoes by winning four out of six games and cutting Rockwood’s lead to 7-6.
But they held on to qualify despite Woodside drawing level, winning the final dominoes pairs game to register an 8-7 aggregate victory.
Kings A eased into the final four after comfortably beating Amalgamated A 6-1 in the darts, enduring a slight comeback in the dominoes to finally win 8-5 overall.
In Darts Division Six, Swan and Chequers white-washed hosts Victoria 8-0 to take over at the top of the division with a six point lead over deposed leaders Flying Lady C, who now have a game in hand.
Swan and Chequers are also the leaders in the Dominoes Division Six, increasing their lead to a massive 22 points after beating Victoria 6-2.
