Portman to star in thriller movie

Natalie Portman is being lined up for the lead in forthcoming supernatural thriller Black Swan.

According to entertainment website Hollywood Reporter, the Star Wars actress has been signed up to star in the film set in the world of ballet.

The movie, to be directed by The Wrestler's Darren Aronofsky, has been resurrected after stalling two years ago.

Black Swan centres on a New York ballerina locked into competition with a rival dancer. But as a big performance approaches it is unclear if the rival is a figment of Portman's imagination or a supernatural apparition.

Since the project launched in 2007 the script has undergone a rewrite.

Meanwhile Aronofsky stock has risen due to the success of The Wrestler.
